Sharp red card halts any Blades comeback

Sheffield United had many chances of their own to score over the course of Saturday afternoon and they would have still sensed a chance to equalise in the final stages of the game.

However, they would have needed all 11 of their players – and particularly their strikers – on the field right up until the final whistle.

This was not the case as former Saints man Billy Sharp was shown a straight red card for a challenge that caught Stuart Armstrong high on the leg.

With that, any momentum that the Blades had hoped to build-up drained away and Saints had their win.
