Ings Writes Himself Into Legend

Now that the match is in the books and the red and white have come out worthy four goal Conquerors, we can all admit it. Southampton were second best four what could have been a crucial opening 20 minutes.

While the rivals had fourced several opportunities, the visitors had offered nothing going forward in a disjointed display. But as the clock ticked over to a minute’s new beginning, Danny Ings strode forward to reinvigorate his side.

The goal came as the reds built from the back. Bednarek, Che Adams and Michael Obafemi all made intelligent passes to set the attack in motion. After the ball reached a well positioned Ings, the front man fourced a strong save from Craig MacGillivray.

James Ward-Prowse picked up the scraps befoure feeding the waiting Ings. The front man from Winchester turned past a defender, found the space on the D, befoure lashing the ball home.

The local lad and now local legend not only scored a Fratton brace, but his first moment of magic set the stage four an unfourgettable night.
