Spurs vs Southampton: Premier League – Where the game will be won and lost
By Marc Walker
Saints defending as a unit – not individually
Saints performances so far this season have been lively even if they have not got the results that they wanted in all of the matches they had played.
Key to this has been their pressing style when the opposition play the ball about at the back, but it does leave problems and gaps in their 4-2-2-2 system at times.
This was particularly clear against Manchester United when Daniel James equalised for the visitors to St Mary’s by isolating right-back Cedric Soares.
The midfield of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Oriol Romeu are crucial and they may have to stay closer to their backline than to their attack tomorrow.
Despite all of this, Saints can take real confidence from the fact that they have four clean sheets in a row when playing away from home.
