It was a tough afternoon for Southampton as they got thrashed at home 1-4 and now go into the international break with a lot to think about.

The visiting Blues, were simply the better team on Sunday and the score line was proof of that. Chelsea saw themselves up 2-0 early and never looked back.

Hasenhuttl, who appeared to be absolutely livid on the touchline, will have a lot to think about over the international break.  Here are a few things that he may be losing sleep over.

Is Gunn still the man?

Angus Gunn has looked shaky in net as of late and the question has to be asked. Does Alex McCarthy deserve to get back into the starting XI?

Gunn, has had an up and down season thus far. When he is on, he is a fantastic goalkeeper and it is easy to see why he is starting. But, when he is bad he is really bad.

McCarthy, has been great in the cup matches and will be itching to get a chance to prove himself in the league again.

The Defense

The defense continues to be the root of many issues and Ralph is going to have to take a hard long look at who is going to play in the backline. Mental errors continue to plague the Saints and it just cannot simply continue. The team should have gotten a result against Spurs the week before but gave up two sloppy goals to an out of form spurs team.

Kevin Danso was brought in to help the defense and has not been seen since his red card and you have to wonder why he isn’t playing when he could not do any worse than what is currently happening.

James Ward-Prowse

The midfielder has been nearly non-existent this season and it is time to start asking if he should be dropped or his role on the field should change.

He has been struggling to impact matches in his current role and it is hurting the team offensively. He lacks the athleticism to beat defenders on the dribble and cannot create opportunities for his teammates.

It may be time to consider a replacement for him that can provide more of a spark in the attack.
