Ings is the main man

Danny Ings scored his fifth goal in four games to repay the faith shown in the club, which completed a permanent deal for the striker over the summer. There is no doubting that Ings has bought into the high pressing game favoured by Hasenhuttl and once again, the Winchester born forward got his reward for his industry and alertness.

Whisper it quietly but it is finally looking as if Southampton have an attacking player capable of registering double figures in the league. The lack of creativity in the Southampton side is hindering the goal tally across the board but if Saints can solve that problem in the January window, Ings could be prolific.

If Southampton can bring in a proper number 10 to play in behind Ings, Hasenhuttl will be confident that he can reverse the position that his team is in. Furthermore, Ings on current form cannot be far from a call up to Gareth Southgate’s England team. That in itself would be a huge reward for a player who has battled with injury over the last few years.
