Saints ran out victors the last time they played the Foxes, Hasenhuttl’s men held onto their lead following going 2-1 up and a Yan Valery red card just before half-time.

The win at the King Power Stadium added to Southampton’s impressive run at the time, whilst Leicester City’s form was extremely poor; with manager Claude Puel being sacked just weeks later.

Following, the appointment of Brendan Rodgers from Celtic, it has aided in a real change of form, as well the rise of players such as James Maddison, Youri Tielemans and Ricardo Pereira have made the midlands clubs a possible ‘Champions League’ contender.

On the other spectrum, Hasenhuttl’s men have struggled in form over the past six months of football; and in particular since the start of the current campaign, which sees Saints sitting just above the relegation zone on just goal difference.

Therefore on paper, it’s hard to see anything but a Leicester City win on Friday, when they are hosted at St. Mary’s in the late night kick off – however given the game that football is, and that the Foxes have lost two games this season; there could be some hope for Southampton.

Looking at where each team could struggle, or succeed, we’ll go over the main threats that both teams posses and therefore who could run out victors on Friday evening, moving onto the first phase of play.
