Southampton vs Leicester City: Premier League – Where the game will be won and lost
By Edward Waugh
Danny Ings
The ‘knee-slide’ specialist has been in inspiring form since his brace against inferior Portsmouth in the League Cup almost one month ago; scoring five goals in his last four games that include said game.
Ings was utilised against Wolves as playing on the last shoulder, and having through balls played into him in order to get in around the backline; and against Leicester City, Southampton should implement the same phase of play.
The Foxes are considered to be very weak at defending against through ball attacks; due to the likes of defenders Jonny Evans and Caglar Soyuncu being very slow on the turn, and therefore if played through effectively, means that Ings will have time to finish home.
Despite heavy criticism from fans a-like; Hasenhuttl should look to fit James Ward-Prowse into his starting line-up who has averaged 1.7 key passes pg so far this campaign; whilst Nathan Redmond (1.1 pg) and Ryan Bertrand (1.3 pg) should also be in the team to implement this phase of play effectively.
