A thoroughly miserable performance from Southampton in thoroughly miserable conditions saw them record a joint-record Premier League loss of 9-0 against Leicester on Friday evening.

The Saints were dealt a brutal early blow when Leicester took the lead through Ben Chilwell, and Ryan Bertrand was then sent off following a VAR decision from the same phase of play.

From that moment on, their heads dropped and they could do nothing to stop the onslaught that followed – Jamie Vardy and Ayoze Perez hat-tricks added to by further efforts from Youri Tielemans and James Maddison.

With reports coming out quickly after the game that Ralph Hasenhuttl will keep his job (Daily Echo), it is now up to the players to restore some pride in upcoming games and show that they are up for the fight.
