Ward Prowse Stuns the Etihad

Following the humiliation suffered at the hands of Leicester city, it would be a brave person to predict Saints to lead against the English champions. That is however precisely what JWP provided for his team.

Danny Ings managed a nice pass to the waiting Nathan Redmond. The Englishman held up possession before squaring to the oncoming Stuart Armstrong.

The Scotsman fizzed in a shot from just inside the area, which stung the palms of the City keeper.  Ederson couldn’t hold the ball and Prowse pounced.

The goal didn’t ultimately prove decisive, but it did serve as fair reward for a positive approach. The Hampshire outfit didn’t get forward to often, but their sharp defensive work made up for it.

After being taken to the depths of footballing despair fans were finally treated to a moment of jubilation.
