Maya Yoshida

Yoshida’s deal also runs out in June after his last extension back in 2017, but he is in a different situation to Long.

Transfermarkt suggests that Saints have the option of extending his contract for a further year and his status may secure him that.

Despite being 31, the Japan international has improved hugely in his time in England and outlined his commitment to Saints by agreeing to give 1% of his salary to the Saints Foundation charity.

Ralph Hasenhuttl will be on the lookout for defensive reinforcements, but having Yoshida around would provide a reliable squad option and someone who has been with the club since 2012.
