A report earlier this week linked Southampton with Preston’s Joe Savage as their new director of football but it was untrue.

According to the Daily Echo, Savage is not being considered by the Saints as they continue to search for a new director of football.

Southampton, have been linked to a number of names throughout their search but nothing has come to fruition as of now.

Filling the role of director of football is no small deal and I am happy seeing that the club are taking their time finding a candidate that will thrive in this role. I suspect they will have someone in there before January so they can make some moves to buff the team up for the second half of the season.

The new director of football is going to know how to operate on a budget and find diamonds in the rough which had been Southampton’s calling card in the past. Recently it has been more famine then feast with out recent transfers and we need to turn that around if we wish to continue playing in the Premier League.

Southampton, take on Everton this weekend as they try to get the season back on track after a string of poor results. With a win we can move on from that embarrassing defeat a few weeks ago and look ahead to finishing well above the relegation zone.
