Southampton Are in Serious Trouble

With just 12 games gone the above title should be hyperbolic nonsense. The sad fact that it isn’t speaks to the state SFC finds itself in.

Whether it’s the frustratingly silent owner, a lackluster playing squad, or baffling tactical decisions by the manager, nothing appears right at any level of the organization.

The Hampshire outfit currently find themselves 19th and three points from safety. That’s effectively four points when you consider a woeful goal difference of -18.

To put that in context, Aston Villa who sit 17th only have a -3 difference.

There are 26 games still to play and plenty of time to salvage the mess. However, with the quality on the pitch so very poor and Arsenal up next things can get worse before they get better.

Losses to upcoming opponents Arsenal and Watford would likely see the team nine points adrift, if rivals pickup results.

The fat lady may not be singing just yet, but she’s certainly warming up the band.
