Southampton: Loan Watch – Josh Sims – NY Red Bulls

Southampton youngster Josh Sims was loaned out to the New York Red Bulls to help them make a push towards the end of their season.

It is the International Break and what better way to spend it then catching up on the players that have been sent on loan this year.

Josh Sims, went over to the United States to join MLS side New York Red Bulls to help them in their search for an MLS Cup win.

Quickly, for those who are not aware, the MLS does not crown the team who finishes the season with the most points as champions. Instead, the top 8 teams from each conference enter into the playoffs and it plays out like any other cup from there.

Red Bulls brought in Sims in at the tail end of August and during his time with the team he made 8 appearances with 6 starts including one in the playoffs. His only goal for the club also came during that playoff match and it really endeared him to the fans.

He also collected an assist as well. The numbers do not tell the whole story as he would constantly make mazy runs past defenders and was really electrifying in his time in the States.

Overall, in his short stint with the Red Bulls, Sims showed he could still be an asset for Saints moving forward. He tore up the weaker defending in the league and will be coming back full of confidence in a team that needs it now more than ever.
