Southampton produced a performance against Arsenal that should have been worthy of the win – but for their lack of ability to do the simple things at the right times.

They twice took the lead through Danny Ings and then James Ward-Prowse, but a succession of missed chances and slack marking allowed Alexandre Lacazette to equalise twice.

Given the amount of setbacks that this side has had recently, it will take a lot of character to respond when it really matters in two upcoming home meetings with Watford and Norwich.

Take the good moments from yesterday into the next fixtures though and they should have no trouble.
