Southampton claimed a second win in the space of four days to climb out of the Premier League’s relegation zone.

A 2-1 victory over Norwich City on Wednesday was confirmed by Danny Ings’ tenth goal of the season and a strike from Ryan Bertrand in front of a rejuvenated St Mary’s crowd.

Saints’ dominance in the first-half was rewarded with a 2-0 lead at half-time, but a nervous last 20 minutes was set up by Teemu Pukki’s reply with one of the visitors’ only chances of the game.

With seven points from a possible nine now though, Saints have the perfect start to a run of fixtures that they would have been targeting.
