Southampton have climbed out of the relegation zone and into safety (for now) with a big victory over Norwich on Wednesday.

Saints, came out of the gates flying in the first half and scored 2 goals at home in the first 45 minutes for the first time in what seems like a decade. They let Norwich get one back in what turned out to be a nervy second half but ultimately held out long enough to collect all 3 points and leap frog Everton on the table.

This match was not all positives as it should there are still some are of concerns with the team but it is a moment the club can use to gain some momentum and start putting some space between them and the bottom. Let us take a look at the takeaways from this match.

The Right-Back Issue

After a string of positive performances, Cedric’s last couple have been quiet poor. His passing has been inaccurate, defense missing a bit of edge, not creating much offensively, and generally just lackluster performances.

Is it time for Yan Valery to get a chance at RB again? My answer is probably not which leads me to believe that in January the club might be in the market for a RB. I have no idea what the budget will be like in January (you have to think it will be rather small) but finding a serviceable wing-back for a cheap price is not impossible.

I have faith in Valery but he just needs to grow a little bit more as a player to be a Premier League caliber full-back.
