Southampton make the trip up to Newcastle for a Sunday afternoon match that could see them get even further away from the bottom.

Both sides are coming off victories midweek and will look to keep the ball rolling and add three more points to their total on the season.

The hosts currently sit 11th on the table with 19 points and if results go their way they could jump all the way up to 6th. As for the Saints, they have 15 points coming off of back-to-back wins and victory on Sunday could see them go 4 points clear of Everton in 18th.

This is a winnable match for each side so let us take a look at how each of the sides could find themselves victorious.

How Newcastle Will Win

Newcastle, have found a strong run of form as of late only losing one of their last six matches. They have had notable results against some big sides like beating United 1-0 at home in October and drawing City 2-2 at home just last weekend.

They will be playing with a lot of confidence and are led by Jonjo Shelvey who has been enjoying a good start to the season.

One area they do struggle with, much like Southampton, is scoring goals. They only have 15 on the season in the League. But with a low goal scoring total they have also only conceded 22 times on the season.

This will likely be a low-scoring affair and whoever gets that first goal could very likely win the match.

How Southampton Will Win

The Saints will be flying high after collecting there second win in a matter of 5 days and will want to add a 3rd to their tally and leave the bottom of the table in their rear-view mirror.

Danny Ings has been a man on fire as of late and will look to continue his scoring streak against a team that defends well. The key to the Saints success will be controlling possession in the match and not being caught out on the counter.

With possession will come chances and the Saints will need to be clinical in front of the opposition net if they hope to take the points from this match. It will be interesting to see the lineup Hasenhuttl chooses with this being the 3rd match in 8 days so I suspect there will be some rotation and I think the same will be true for Newcastle.

If this does happen that means his could be a chance for players like Che Adams to get a new chance to prove their worth and force their way into the regular starting XI.
