Southampton: Three soon-to-be free agents who Saints could try to sign
By Marc Walker
Olivier Giroud
It may be fairly unrealistic to suggest that Giroud would choose St Mary’s over other clubs that he could go to.
However, Saints are in need of a target man in their squad to play alongside Danny Ings in attack and Giroud’s contract is up at the end of the current season.
This means that clubs other than Chelsea have been able to negotiate with the Frenchman since June over a summer move away from Stamford Bridge.
With 78 goals in 225 Premier League appearances, Giroud has proven himself to be a reliable source of goals at both Arsenal and Chelsea.
