The January transfer window is rapidly approaching and it could not be more important for Southampton success moving forward.

The Saints defense has been identified as one of the areas that needs improvement and it should come to us as no surprise that the club has already been linked to three defenders.

The defense, to this day, continue to make terrible mistakes at least once a match. These mistakes also seem to come at the worst possible time and routinely cost the club points.

So with the January window coming up in just a few weeks it is important that Saints fortify their backline so let us take a look at who they are linked with.

Jean-Clair Todibo

The 19-year-old French defender is looking to leave Barcelona and the club are open to him leaving. The youngster, has barely seen the pitch for the Spanish giants so it is no wonder he wants to leave. He recently put in a Man of the Match performance in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Barca, must have enjoyed his performance Tuesday as well because if anything it justified a higher price-tag for the defender.

The Spanish club only paid about £1m for the defender but will likely be looking to make that back and more for the promising Frenchman.

Southampton, unsurprisingly, will face competition from other clubs if they do pursue Todibo in January. They will face competition in the form of Watford, Milan, and Bayer Leverkusen.

Todibo, will be sold this January it is just a matter of where and I would like it to be Southampton. If his performance from Tuesday tells us anything it is that he is a promising talent who could thrive under a manager like Hasenhuttl.
