Sebastien Haller’s winning goal shortly before half-time condemned Southampton to a 1-0 loss against West Ham.

Two straight losses to Newcastle and now the Hammers have seen the difficult times return for the Saints, who now look set for another frantic battle to save themselves from relegation.

Whilst they are still not by any means adrift at the bottom of the table, points need to come fast now given the number of opportunities that have gone begging.

Two defeats on the spin also provides more challenges for Saints boss Ralph Hasenhuttl, who may look to changes of personnel to change his side’s fortunes.
