Danny Ings nets to rescue a point for Southampton as they hold Crystal Palace at 1-1.

In a tussle with very few clear-cut chances a James Tompkins header had look likely to give the visitors all three points. Ings who has been in a rich vein of form this campaign had other ideas.

The marksman netted his 12th top-flight goal after capitalizing off a hospital pass from the visitors’ back line. The match showcased two sides well drilled and practiced in their tactical setups.

The teams were very evenly matched with both proving to be difficult to break down with chances coming at a premium. Southampton for their part, showed good intent and good energy from the off.

Although, they struggled to break down a stubborn adversary for the majority of proceedings, SFC did manage several chances to take all three points. It was a game of few goals, that rewarded, patients, focus, as well as a willingness to get stuck in.
