Palace Hit the Front

Both sides were very well drilled during the contest. SFC managed the pressing game well, while the visitors allowed very little near the box. The two shot stoppers had very little to do for the majority of the match.

The all-important breakthrough arrived courtesy of an excellently worked second half Luka Milivojević free kick. The Serbian evades the wall to find the head of James Tomkins. Tomkins pings the ball on to the post and past a despairing Alex McCarthy.

In such a close match the strike could easily have taken all three points for the Londoners. The red and white army looked to be struggling to find a way back after the goal, and it was only a late Christmas gift that would save the day.
