The Eagles Deliver a Late Christmas Gift

As we all know the festive season is a time for giving and charity of spirit. Most Premier League managers would ask that their players’ giving spirit not extend to the football pitch, but luckily Hodgson is clearly not one of them.

With under 20 minutes to play the away side appeared to be enjoying a reasonably composed spell in possession. Operating in their final third, the ball comes to the feet of Milivojević. The number four looks to have plenty of time to pick out and nearby colleague.

Regrettably, for the international star, his pass drifts by Tomkins and into the path of the potent Danny Ings. The Striker strides into the area before comfortably converting his 12th goal of the season.

The unexpected Christmas Present gifted Saints a route back into the game and allowed them to seize control for the final knockings.

Fans would’ve certainly been hoping for more after the heroics against Chelsea, but the hard-fought point is a valuable one in the fight against relegation.
