Midfielders

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Centre-Midfielder – 7

A workmanlike first half with a volleyed strike at goal.  Was really good in possession until poor giveaway in the 72nd minute leading to his own yellow card and a dangerous free kick.  Is captaining a side that can play with anyone at the moment and people are taking notice.  Let’s get this man under contract ASAP.

James Ward-Prowse, Centre-Midfielder  – 8

The man is playing like Romeu with tempo and tactic.  Hit the wall on a free kick from a near perfect distance.  His recognition of transition, specifically when losing the ball is fantastic.  Recovers, gets into tackles, and deserves a place in the England side.

Stuart Armstrong, Attacking-Midfielder – 7

First real contribution was a firm strike at goal.  However, he got himself in trouble just seconds later with an undeserved yellow.  Fortunate to get a deflection which led to his goal, but he will take his first of the campaign regardless.  Redmond teed him up to take the lead in the second half, but he smashed it into the stands.  Another good performance and may have cemented his place in the starting eleven.

Nathan Redmond, Attacking-Midfielder – 7

Started the game extremely confident which typically dictates his play.  A couple early tackles enhanced his status in the match.  Defended really well throughout the game, but nearly let Ricardo through in the final 15 minutes.  Drove the ball at Leicester who were exposed, nearly setting Ings up for a 3rd goal.
