Southampton claimed a seventh win from their last 10 Premier League games against Leicester City to widen the gap between themselves and the bottom three.

Goals from Stuart Armstrong and Danny Ings saw Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side secure three points on the road for the third game running and suggest that they should now be looking up the table rather than down it.

Their latest triumph at the King Power Stadium was not without drama, but Saints were good value for their win after controlling much of the game once Leicester had taken the lead after 14 minutes.

Leicester had the ball in the net on three other occasions, but Saints’ defensive organisation saw all three ruled out for offside – one just before stoppage-time began.

Saints now look to a home meeting with Wolves and will have their eyes on another positive result.
