It has come out that Everton are eyeing a potential deal for Southampton captain Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg with a move to the club.

The Danish international has been a key cog in the Southampton this year and has just been massively important for the club and it should come as no surprise other clubs have started to take notice.

The move would reportedly cost Everton £35m which is a huge number if you think about it for the 24-year-old midfielder. It will be interesting to see if anything unfolds from this situation in the coming days.

There is only 5 days left in the transfer window and Southampton have yet to buy or sell a player and I have a feeling that will hold true through the final days of the window. It would be a big blow to the club to lose their captain and I really do not see this deal going through this January.

He could very well leave in the summer but it would not be a smart move in my book if he left in January. He would leave a hole in the middle of the pitch and would be sorely missed by the supporters.

There has been some issues with his contract and the two sides not being able to come to terms but I do not think the best solution would be letting the player go this Winter and not getting all we can out of him the rest of the season as we push to finish in the top half of the table.
