A new report from the telegraph today has now linked Southampton Right-back to England giants, Arsenal in a move to bolster their roster.

With the move of Kyle Walker-Peters to the South Coast looking imminent, it makes a little more sense as to why Cedric is now linked with a move away from the club.

The Portuguese international’s contract is up in 6-month so instead of letting him go for free in the Summer it makes sense the club would want to recoup some of the money they spent on the player 5 years ago.

For Arsenal, this move would make sense because they have been having terrible injury luck this season and need to start bolstering the roster as they look to fight their way back into the top six.

Cedric, would be a move that only cost the club around £6m and brings in a player who has experience in big competitions.

I think this move makes sense for both clubs in all honesty. It is a short-term solution for a club struggling with injuries that would barely make a dent in their finances and for Southampton it allows them to get some money back for a player who was already on his way out in the summer.

There are only a few days left in the transfer window so this bit of business will need to get done quickly.

I think if the fee is not really going to be an issue for either side it could be agreed upon rather quickly and why wouldn’t Cedric want to spend a few months at a club like Arsenal?
