Strikers and Substitutes
Danny Ings, Striker – 8
Got a couple chances in the first half and may have buried one had he not hit Shane Long for the strike. Probably could have pulled the trigger himself on his other key opportunity, but he cut the pass back to no one. Desperately wanted a goal, but ran himself into a substitution after an hour, presumably to save him for Tottenham.
Shane Long, Striker – 7
Was his usual self, running hard and winning the ball in the air. Almost gave up a penalty bringing down Firmino and lost Van Djik at the back post on a long ball. Had his own chance to score with a strong half volley struck right at Alisson. Has formed a quality partnership with Danny Ings, and against a lesser opponent he may have found the back of the net.
Michael Obafemi, Substitute Striker – 5
Entered for Shane Long with a half hour to go. Not much to note in possession, but tried to make the right runs without the ball.
Che Adams, Substitute Striker – 5
A part of the double switch with Obafemi at the hour mark. Looks desperate in possession and needs the game time more than anybody at the moment.
Sofiane Boufal, Substitute Attacking-Midfielder – N/A
The FA Cup goal scorer was given just 8 minutes plus stoppage time with the game out of hand. Nearly curled the ball in the far corner and was really dynamic in a short period of time.
