Ings needs to rediscover his touch in front of goal

There is no doubting that this season, Danny Ings has been phenomenal for Southampton. With 16 goals in all competitions, Ings has been a breath of fresh air in a typically goal-shy squad.

Ings worked hard at Anfield and was unlucky not win a penalty. In a pleasing moment, he went off to a well deserved standing ovation from both sets of fans.

However, the mini drought of four games, dating back to the Leicester game has proved frustrating for the 27 year old. With winnable games against Burnley and Aston Villa on the horizon, Hasenhuttl could do with his star striker finding his touch back in front of goal.

Saints are evenly balanced between the race for Europe and the battle to avoid the drop. The next four matches could prove to be the difference between a successful season and a mediocre one.

Luckily for Southampton, Ings does bring more than just goals and his hard work in trying regain possession is a crucial cog in the Hasenhuttl machine. Although others have alleviated the burden somewhat in recent weeks, the Winchester born striker is desperate to become only the fifth Southampton striker to register 15 or more goals in a Premier League season (source: BBC Sport).
