Manager, Goalkeeper and Defenders
Ralph Hasenhuttl, Manager – 7
A line-up that couldn’t get much stronger currently, so not much more he could do. Perhaps needs to find a Plan B to go to when he sees Saints losing control.
Angus Gunn, Goalkeeper – 5
Okay up until his crucial moment in the game where he was hesitant in coming out to Son and gave away a penalty. Saints need to stick with him and help him improve, but McCarthy is by far the first-choice at the moment.
James Ward-Prowse, Right-Back – 7
Had been superb until he was forced off with what looks a bad injury – a potentially huge blow for Saints in the longer term.
Get well soon Prowsey! (thankfully post-match interviews with Ralph suggest it’s just a cut rather than ligament damage).
Jan Bednarek, Centre-Back – 7
One very good tackle to break up a Spurs break in the first period.
Having an equally good season alongside Stephens – albeit a bit quieter. Important that the duo stay fit with an incident-prone Vestergaard as back-up.
Jack Stephens, Centre-Back – 7
Unlucky with the opening Spurs goal and remains vital for this team with his much-improved reading of the game. Denied the opposition numerous times as they looked to pass through towards goal.
Ryan Bertrand, Left-Back – 7
A threat down the left and even had a couple of strong efforts on goal when breaking forward.
