Midfielders

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Central-Midfield – 8

Crucial. Consistent on the ball and constantly winning possession. Needs to be even more energetic when Romeu is his partner in the centre.

Oriol Romeu, Central-Midfield – 6

Solid enough, but eventually resorted to his normal cynical challenges when Saints lost control late on. Extended run in the team with Ward-Prowse’s injury?

Sofiane Boufal, Attacking-Midfield – 7

Did well whilst he was on the pitch, but should have done better with a big second-half chance.

Nathan Redmond, Attacking-Midfield – 8

Quite simply, his contributions aren’t given the credit they deserve at the moment.

His assist here for Ings’ goal was fantastic – breaking from the right and beating multiple challenges before setting his teammate up with the perfect pass through.
