Jan-Paul Saeijs

Saeijs joined Saints on a short-term loan deal during the 2008/09 season to join the battle against relegation.

The campaign resulted in a drop to the third-tier of English football, but Saeijs will be remembered for a particular Tuesday night at Watford.

The big defender opened the scoring with booming header from a corner in the 13th minute, but Watford eventually fought back to lead 2-1 midway through the second-half.

However, Saeijs’ best moment was still to come with one minute of normal time remaining when he stepped up to bend a perfect free-kick into the top corner despite other more renowned set-piece takers being on the pitch.
