Danny Ings

There are a few notable strikers who have played for both Saints and Burnley – Charlie Austin and Jay Rodriguez are two – but it only seems fair to mention one who has hit the best spells of his career with both clubs.

Ings followed Eddie Howe from Bournemouth to Burnley in 2011 and became a real goal threat for them in the Championship and then the Premier League – scoring 43 times in 130 games in all.

He initially signed on loan for Saints at the beginning of last season and struggled with a hamstring injury throughout the year, so some eyebrows were perhaps raised at the agreement to make the deal permanent for almost £20m.

However, this gamble from Saints has fully paid off with Ings having scored 17 times in just 24 appearances this season and seemingly past his injury problems.
