The Famous Five

Since completing his £20 million move (BBC sport) from Liverpool Danny Ings has been a revelation. His work rate has been tireless, and his on-field chemistry with his colleagues has been excellent.

Ings has already entered himself into Southampton lore, scoring two of four goals against arch-rivals Portsmouth. Now with his equalizer against the Clarets, the forward has officially earned himself a spot in the club’s record books, becoming only the fifth player to score 15 goals in a Premier League campaign.

The front man joins, Rickie Lambert, Jay Rodriguez, James Beattie and of course Matt Le Tissier. Unsurprisingly, Le Tissier tops the EPL scoring charts with an impressive 25 strikes. The legendary number seven is the only player in the club’s Premier history to break the 15 barrier, doing so on three separate occasions.

If Danny wants the top scoring record he has 12 games to find 11 goals. Potentially tricky, but by no means impossible.
