Southampton will be without key man, Nathan Redmond for some time as he picked up a knock the Friday before the Burnley match.

Sky Sports are reporting the winger be out for up to two months. He pulled up with a muscle injury and when asked, Ralph said he will miss at least one month but it could easily be two.

This hurts for two reasons. One, the Englishman seemed to be finding his form and was really going to start having an even greater impact on matches in the coming weeks. Second, Saints are entering an easier run of matches than they faced previously and really need to take advantage of the opponents they will be playing.

Unfortunately, we cannot do anything about this injury now and just have to look forward to how we are going to cope with this loss. The obvious answer will be that either Boufal or Djenepo will assume his starting spot and play out on the left.

With Boufal getting the start against Burnley but coming off with an injury it will be Djenepo’s turn to get a shot at the starting job and prove he is the man to play while Redmond is out.

The two African’s are similar players with their playmaking ability but I think Boufal is the better passer out of the two and would work better in the current system until Djenepo develops a bit more.

Next. Worrying stat shows that Saints still have a lot to improve on. dark

I have faith in both Ralph and the players to step up and fill the void and to make Redmond’s absence have as minimal impact as possible on the team.
