Marians Pahars
Saints fans would have been forgiven for not knowing who Pahars was when he signed from Skonto Riga in 1999.
They certainly know who he is now though having seen the Latvian score many memorable goals in memorable games – 43 in 145 matches to be precise, and even some that saved the club from relegation.
Pahars took the role of Latvia national team manager in 2013 and oversaw some good results in his time in charge.
In 2016, they went on a run of six games unbeaten – including four wins – which can be seen as impressive for a country with limited football resources.
