Oxford United defender, Rob Dickie, is enjoying a great season in league one and has been attracting the attention of Championship and Premier League sides.

The League 1 side is chasing promotion and are bracing to lose their best defender this summer who only has a year and half left on his contract. Southampton, will face competition in the shape of Burnley for this defender if they wish to pursue him in the summer.

The Englishman, has made 41 appearances in all competitions for the club this season and has shown he is durable and willing to go out there and give it his each and every match.

Dickie is six foot Centre-back who possess decent pace and strength that could translate well to the Premier League.

Centre-back has been a problem position for the Saints for some time now. Even with the pairing of Stephens and Bednarek, we still continue to concede too many goals and need to find a solution.

Purchasing a player from a league one side will not come with a big financial price tag. If Ralph believes he can develop Dickie into the type of defender he wants, I think it would be worth it to pay Oxford United for the centre-back.

This summer transfer window will be very interesting for Southampton. It will depend largely on how they finish in the league but I think Ralph has proven enough that he is the man for the job and can get results. Now, he needs the financial backing of the club and a chance to take the club to the next level.
