Southampton host Aston Villa at St Mary’s this afternoon and will be hoping to get back to winning ways.

Three league defeats from four games have seen Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side drop out of the top half, with the congested table meaning a result either way could mean big positional shifts.

Saints will be buoyed ahead of today’s game by the way that they beat Villa back in December, but Villa will see a real opportunity too with Saints’ poor home record.

The result of this clash will be important at both ends of the table, with Saints looking to pull away from the bottom and aiming for the top half.

Villa are just one point outside the bottom three, but a win could provide them with real momentum for the rest of the campaign.
