Midfielders

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Central-Midfielder – 5

Not as bad a performance as some but will be disappointed to not stop more of West Ham’s attacks at source like Hasenhuttl needs his midfielders to do.

Will Smallbone, Central-Midfielder – 5

Looks to have stepped into Premier League football without any issues but this will be his first difficult result to recover from.

Stuart Armstrong, Attacking-Midfielder – 6

Perhaps the most likely source of creation in the Saints front four but – like with the defence – there wasn’t much cohesion up front either.

Sofiane Boufal, Attacking-Midfielder – 4

Not able to create when Saints needed him to. Dragged off on 53 minutes, and will need to actually start making an impact on the starts he is given soon.
