Strikers and Substitutes

Shane Long, Striker – 5

Won his fair amount of aerial duels once more, but really needs Ings alongside him.

Michael Obafemi, Striker – 5

A really nice finish for his fourth Saints goal and another step on his development. Clearly a much more influential presence when others around him are on top form, which wasn’t the case today.

Danny Ings, 1st Substitute – 6

Looked sharp after he came on but was introduced literally second before Saints let in West Ham’s third goal. Hasenhuttl was right to keep him on the bench if he had a knock that could’ve escalated at all.

Jannik Vestergaard, 2nd Substitute – 5

Introduced as Saints changed shape to try and make something happen, but was never going to provide the impact that was needed.

Oriol Romeu, 3rd Substitute – 5

Introduced in the 77th minute but – in hindsight – perhaps could have started to help the defence.
