It was reported that the Southampton captain had turned down a new contract but it has come out he has not been offered one yet to turn down.

The rumors have been swirling around the Danish midfielder in the recent weeks and now we are getting conflicting results. Originally, it seemed as though Hojbjerg had received a contract extension from Southampton but turned it down.

Now, the Daily Echo is saying the Saints have not offered the Captain a new contract and that it will happen later down the road. The 24-year-old is obviously a key part of this team and would be a huge loss to the club if he decides he does not want to extend his contract and find employment somewhere else.

He recently switched agents and that could be a telling sign that he is looking for a move to a bigger club in the Premier League. Teams like Tottenham could appeal to the player who would probably want to return to a club that has a reputation like Bayern Munich where the Saints purchased him from.

If and when he leaves it will hurt and he will be missed but I have faith that Ralph already has the midfielders replacement already lined up and ready to not miss a beat. I think a lot of how the team finishes this season will play a large factor in how this summer plays out in the transfer window.

I look forward to seeing how this team battles for the rest of the season and just how high they can potentially climb on the table.
