Southampton vs Newcastle FPL picks: Creativity could be key this week

Southampton host Newcastle at St Mary’s on Saturday and will be bidding to make it two Premier League home wins in a row.

A 3-1 loss to West Ham last time out saw Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men fail to put a complete performance in and defend poorly.

It was also their fourth loss in five games in all competitions and showed that focus needs to return to make sure of top-flight safety this year.

Newcastle beat Saints 2-1 back in December despite the visitors at St James’ Park being on the front foot for much of the contest.

Steve Bruce’s side had developed a healthy ability to claim points against the run of play, but go into this game having not scored a league goal since late January.
