Midfielders

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Central-Midfield – 6

Some good moments when he tried to force Saints forwards but was mainly limited to shuffling back and forth in defensive formation.

James Ward-Prowse, Central-Midfield – 7

Had to prove his worth defensively today and contributed with three tackles, four aerial duels won and three clearances.

Sofiane Boufal, Attacking-Midfield – 6

A very decent start to the game and started to get the better of Danny Rose by beating him a couple of times early on. Understandably faded as Saints went down to 10 men, but carelessly handled in the box to give away the penalty.

Moussa Djenepo, Attacking-Midfield – N/A

It’s unfair to give him a grade here. Was sent off for a late and dangerous challenge, but it was in no way intentional and he was visibly upset as he left the field.

Great support for the Malian from the St Mary’s crowd after the tough recent time he has had.
