It has been reported the Saints and Palace sent a scout to a Serie B game to watch the defender in action as they believe he has Premier League talent.

The 22-year-old is a towering defender standing at 192cm and represents a physical threat in the back. The Croatian has made 13 appearances for the Italian club and is a regular in the back.

According to sportswitness both clubs believe the player has the making of a Premier League defender. He has been compared to Inter Centre-Back Milan Skriniar.

Erlic, was purchased from Sassuolo for just £300k which means the Serie B side stands to make good money on the defender. He will likely only cost a couple of million and if the club believes he can live up to his potential I think they should snap him up when the opportunity presents itself.

The Saints defense has been the question mark about this team for some time now. Even though it appears Hasenhuttl has his preferred back 4 he is still looking to improve it and stop the leakiness they sometimes are effected by.

Southampton, do not have the money the bigger clubs have so if they can find a diamond in the rough with Erlic I say they should go for it.

It may be some time before we get to watch our Saints in action but hopefully they take this time to scout their moves for the summer and get ready for the 20/21 season with some moves in the upcoming transfer window.
