With no Southampton football for a while we turn to their virtual counterparts and take a look at which players deserve a rating boost.

With the struggles of the 18/19 it was not surprising the Southampton players received low ratings in FIFA 20. The Saints have turned around their fortunes a bit this season and because of that their players will likely be higher rated in the next iteration of FIFA.

So, let us take a look at the 3 players who deserve the biggest boost next year.

Danny Ings

Original Rating – 76

Proposed New Rating – 81

This is probably the most obvious choice of the three today. Ings, was having a career season before it came to a screeching halt.

The striker had 15 league goals, which is fifth most in the league and was rumored to be in-line for an England call-up this summer.

His original 76 rating was criminal with only a 74 in shooting. He has proven to be a clinical finisher and his work rate is other worldly. In FIFA 21 I suspect he will be receiving a ratings boost in all major categories and will be a much better player in the game.

It is about time Ings starts getting the respect he deserves and I think he proved to everyone this year he is true goal scorer.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

Original Rating – 77

Proposed New Rating – 80

Once again, the Danish midfielder has proven he is one of the most consistent players in our side and the interest he receives from larger clubs just goes to show how brutally underrated he is in FIFA.

Like Ings, his work rate is second to none. He is everywhere on the pitch and doing it all to help the team win. He makes tackles and interceptions on the defensive side and attacking he is able to cut through defenses with his passes and orchestrate the attack to create a chance.

He is not great at any single thing but he is very good at nearly everything. He helps the team tick and there is a reason he was given the captains armband.

I expect he will receive a stat boost in every category except for pace. He will be more than a useable midfielder in FIFA 21

Jack Stephens

Original Rating – 74

Proposed New Rating – 79

Jack Stephens entered this season as really an after-thought. We all knew Bednarek and Vestergaard were going to be the centre-back pairing for Ralph and that is who started the season.

Then, seemingly out of nowhere, Stephens bursts onto the scene and now we cannot imagine a lineup without him in the back. He has been playing a like a man possessed and truly helped turned this team around.

dark. Next. New Coronavirus suspension to see four games postponed

He is not even a gold player in FIFA 20 so it is about time he breaks that 75 overall threshold to get himself a gold card.
