Yesterday we covered three Southampton players who deserved a rating boost in FIFA. Now we look at the other side and see who should be lower.

It has not been smooth sailing for Southampton all season. At a point it seemed we were in for another relegation scrap and that was due mainly to players who were just simply not playing well.

So let us take a look who deserves to be lower rated next FIFA

Jannik Vestergaard

Original Rating – 78

Proposed New Rating – 75

Vestergaard looked to be the defending partner with Jan Bednarek but very quickly he fell out of favor after making some mental errors allowing goals to be scored.

Saints have had an issue conceding goals this season and large part it was due to the errors made in the back by defenders. Vestergaard was overrated in FIFA in my opinion and deserves to be dropped a bit going into next season.

Oriol Romeu

Original Rating – 76

Proposed New Rating – 75

This might be a bit harsh on the Spaniard but the midfielder has not been his normal self this season when he does manage to get time on the pitch.

He has looked just a step slow and has made uncharacteristic mistakes on the ball. He is now 28 and only getting older. He may no longer be premier league quality sadly and the club might need to search for new options.

Yan Valery

Original Rating – 69

Proposed New Rating – 67

The Frenchman has seemed to have taken a step back in his career this season and has had some very poor moments on the pitch. The 9-0 defeat to Leicester probably sums up Valery’s season this year.

He was very poor in that match and it may have done something to his confidence and he just does not seem like the same player we saw last year.
