With the Coronavirus suspension bringing about an enforced break in domestic football, there is time to look back on the good and bad for Southampton in the past years.

In many ways, Saints fans have been lucky to witness Wembley appearances, promotions and European football in the last 10 years where some supporters may wait a lifetime to see one of those things.

However, poor management from the club in more recent seasons have seen struggles at the bottom of the Premier League table and nervy fights for survival.

One part of the mixed fortunes that Saints have experienced has been both incoming and outgoing transfers.

European qualification was brought about by assembling a superb squad of talent, whereas other players that have signed at St Mary’s have not paid off at all.

Television money has provided power in the transfer market for Saints and enabled them to increase the boundaries that they can work within – meaning that their record transfer fees paid have also gone up in the recent past.

Test yourself with this quiz on the club’s record buys so far and find out your grade on the last page.
