Southampton: Three current players that are vital to Saints’ future

Despite being 16 months into his spell as manager, Ralph Hasenhuttl’s work with Southampton remains a work in progress.

The Austrian would probably like more funds to play with to ensure he has the right players in his squad to perform as he wants them too.

This is not that simple though given that Saints are battling to recover from previous transfers that have not paid off and a subsequent slide down the Premier League table.

Because of these factors, the job that Hasenhuttl is doing is having to be done more slowly – we have seen steps forward with the implementation of his style of play this season, but also steps back like the 9-0 loss to Leicester City.

One thing that he does have in his favour though is a number of talented players in his ranks at St Mary’s.
