A report from the Daily Star has said the owner has lowered his asking price for the club by £50m as he looks to move on from Southampton.

There are conflicting reports however on what the asking price for the club is or even if they are truly up for sale but the evidence is starting to point in the favor of Gao wanting to sell his stake in Southampton.

It has been a rocky time for Gao as majority owner of the team since he bought his 80% share of the team a few years ago. I do not think he ever truly won over the fans and with some of the comments he has made in the past it definitely did not endear him to anyone.

The first report from the Daily Star said the club would be for sale for £250m but the club claimed they were not for sale but always open to new investments.

With relegation (hopefully) out of the picture this season, Gao will be able to find someone who will actually want to own the club and run it properly and pump some money into the team to help the manager out when he needs it.

The last few seasons have not been easy for anybody. From the players to the supporters so hopefully now if the team sells we can leave this chapter of Saints history behind us and move onto better times.
