The Great Dane was a regular on the pitch to start the season but after the emergence of Jack Stephens it looks like he may be on the way out.

The towering defender only made 16 appearances for Southampton this season compared to the 23 he had made last season. He looked to be the future at Centre-back for the Saints but that was quickly proved to be false when he was replaced by Stephens.

Now, it appears he will likely be sold this summer and some of the money the club recoups from his sale will go into getting a new Centre-back at the club. He was only averaging 1 tackle and 1.1 interceptions per match.

Vestergaard, was also susceptible to making that one big mistake that would lead to the other team getting a goal. He had his moments where he showed he has the potential to be a solid defender but in a league where every point matters the team could not live with the inconsistency.

The highlight of his season would be the goal that came against Manchester United early in the season that led to a draw. It was a beautiful header that saw him really use his height to his advantage.

Outside of that, his season was pretty much forgettable. He will want to find a place he can get first team football again and he will probably make his way back to Germany where he found a lot of success. Hopefully he finds a place where he fits in.
